Building green results in big savings for schools
A new national report entitled Greening Americas Schools - Costs and Benefits, finds that building green would save an average school $100,000 each year, enough to hire two new additional full time teachers. The report indicates that green schools, those designed to be energy efficient, healthy, environmentally friendly, and with few asthma triggers, are extremely cost effective with benefits that far outweigh the costs. A detailed analysis of 30 green schools built in 10 states is included in the report along with a breakdown of costs and benefits.
