Asthma and the Flu Vaccine
Research conducted by the American Lung Association's Asthma Clinical Research Centers Network has found that neither children nor adults with asthma are harmed by influenza vaccines. The study included 2,032 children and adults who were diagnosed with asthma. Patients were randomly assigned to receive the actual flu shot or a placebo injection. The results were published November 22, 2001 in the New England Journal of Medicine and the abstract of the study can be accessed by clicking on the following link: http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/abstract/345/21/1529. |
