Creating a Medical Home for Asthma
This presentation was done as part of the monthly CDC Asthma Teleconference by David Evans, PhD. He presented on the topic, Creating a Medical Home for Asthma: Improving Quality of Care for Asthma in Pediatric Clinics. Dr. Evans is a Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University in the College of Physicians & Surgeons in the Joseph Mailman School of Public Health. He is also Director of Asthma Education Research Program in the Department of Pediatrics and School of Public Health where he conducts research to identify effective methods for teaching patients and health care professionals about asthma. He is one of the developers of the Open Airways for Schools health education program for children with asthma. Creating A Medical Home for Asthma is a program which teaches pediatric clinical staff how to manage childhood asthma using patient education and communications skills.
