- IAQ Tools for SchoolsProduced by the US Environmental Protection Agency, The Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools Kit shows schools how to carry out a practical plan of action to improve indoor air problems at little or no cost using straightforward activities and in-house staff. Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools is co-sponsored by the National PTA, National Education Association, Council for American Private Education, Association of School Business Officials, American Federation of Teachers, and the American Lung Association. - Strategies for Addressing Asthma Within a Coordinated School Health ProgramProduced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the short and accessible document offers concrete suggestions for schools working to improve the health and school attendance of children with asthma. - American Lung Association and Kaiser Permanenteˇ¦s Asthma-Friendly Schools Initiative Tool KitThe kit was created to present a comprehensive program approach to transforming schools into safe, supportive environments. It is designed for use by local Lung Association staff and volunteers, as well as other community-based organizations working to create asthma-friendly schools in their communities. - SNAP ˇV Arizona Asthma Coalitionˇ¦s School Nurse Asthma ProgramThis program was developed by the Arizona Asthma Coalition with support from the Arizona Department of Health Services. Its goals are: To provide an update of best practices in management of asthma in school children; to provide educational materials for use by the school nurse; and to provide linkages to community resources for school nurses. - Educational Guide on Lung Health for Elementary School StudentsA guide for conducting 45- to 60-minute lessons on lung health, asthma, the effects of smoking on the lungs, and ways to resist smoking. - Asthma Action PlansThis convenient, one page document helps children and their parents, in coordination with medical providers and school staff, to better manage their asthma. Clear instructions (to be filled out by a doctor) detail treatment for various stages of an individualˇ¦s asthma problem. - School Medication FormThe New York City Asthma Initiative has just developed a school medication form ˇV a single form completed by parents/guardians, school staff, and medical providers authorizing school nurses to administer medication and/or children to carry inhalers for self-administration. - Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial BuildingsThis document presents guidelines for the remediation/cleanup of mold and moisture problems in schools and commercial buildings. These guidelines include measures designed to protect the health of building occupants and remediators.
