Produced by the California Department of Health Services, Environmental Health Investigations Branch, this report presents asthma hospitalization rates in California counties for 1998 through 2000. This report is intended to provide information to counties on progress toward achieving the national Healthy People 2000 objective of reduced asthma hospitalizations. Rates are shown separately by race/ethnicity and for children (0 to 14 years) to help county health officials identify populations most at risk for severe asthma morbidity.
