July 2004 revised indoor air guideline on formaldehyde by CA Air Resources Board
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) updated the Indoor Air
Quality Guideline for formaldehyde, entitled "Formaldehyde in
the Home," and announced its availability on August 2, 2004. The original version (CARB IAQ Guideline No. 1) was from 1991.

Formalehyde, a volatile organic compound known to irritate the respiratory system and eyes, has several primary and secondary sources indoors and outdoors. These can be controlled or reduced/removed to prevent or minimize exposure.

You may view or print it from:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/research/indoor/formaldehyde.htm

On this Internet page, you can also download the CARB-CDHS guidance document on reducing formaldehyde in schools.

If you have any questions, please contact Susan Lum at slum@arb.ca.gov, or call Susan or Peggy Jenkins by phone at (916) 445-0753
