Earthjustice, and environmental law firm in California, filed a suit in on behalf of the Sierra Club after Imperial County was permitted by the EPA to ignore the tougher standards for environmental health required by the Clean Air Act in 2001. Attorney David S. Baron successfully argued the case, and states, “we hope that the state and the county will now move on with the job of adopting the stronger antipollution measures required by the law.”
