Jaakkola JJK, Parise H, Kislitsin V, Lebedeva NI, Spengler JD. 2004.
Asthma, Wheezing, and Allergies in Russian Schoolchildren in Relation to New Surface Materials in the Home.
American Journal of Public Health (AJPH), 94 (4): 560-562.

This paper reported on a 1996-97 cross-sectional survey-based study of 5951 Russian schoolchildren ages 8-12, and focused on data concerning respiratory health outcomes and recent renovation and/or new installation of materials with potential emission of volatile organic chemical compounds (contain carbon) like formaldehyde.

New linoleum flooring and new particleboard installed in the past year were each associated with increased odds of having any allergy. New synthetic carpet installed in the past year was associated with increased odds of having any allergy and reported current wheezing.
