From the abstract of this peer-reviewed study, which includes summarized results of every peer-reviewed publication and report on the University of Southern California's long-term prospective cohort study of children's respiratory health and outdoor air pollution:
"...The Children's Health Study indicates that reduced lung function growth, increased school absences, asthma exacerbation, and new-onset asthma are occurring at current levels of air pollution, with sizable economic consequences. We describe these findings...."
