Resource: Wildfire Smoke Guide from California Breathing
The California Department of Public Health has recently revised their wildfire smoke resource, “Wildfire Smoke: A Guide for Public Health Officials”. This guide is useful for anyone who works with people with asthma and includes current information on smoke behavior, respiratory protection, use of air cleaners and air conditioning, an explanation of how to align public health interventions with estimated or measured levels of particles, resources, information on building HVAC use, mask use, ash clean-up, setting up a cleaner air shelter, and model air quality alert PSAs. The guide can be downloaded from the California Breathing website at http://www.californiabreathing.org/images/stories/publications/wildfire_smoke_guide_july08.pdf.
