RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: CDC to pilot test school health index for asthma management
The Division of Adolescent and School Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking your input on a new school health and asthma project. The project is called the School Health Index for Asthma Management. The School Health Index is a self-assessment and planning guide that was developed for the purpose of providing schools with a tool to assess their policies and programs compared to the CDC school health guidelines. Recently the CDC developed an asthma management component, and they're seeking school coordinators who would be willing to pilot test the new materials. Specifically, they seek 9 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, and 9 high schools from several geographic locations (i.e., urban, rural, suburban). Ideally, one coordinator would pilot a school in each of the three grade levels (elementary, middle and high school). For participating, each pilot site coordinator will receive an honorarium of a minimum of $500 dollars. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dr. Steven Kelder at mailto:Steven.H.Kelder@uth.tmc.edu, 713-500-9636 (W), 713-553-4767 (Mobile).
