Public Hearings (7, between 9/22/04 and 10/14/04) on Bay Area Air Quality Management District ozone attainment plan and
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District invites you to join our efforts to improve air quality by participating in one of the seven community meetings we have scheduled around the Bay Area.

The community meetings will provide residents an opportunity to learn about and comment on the Air District's DRAFT Ozone Strategy, the region's plan for attaining national and state 1-hour ozone standards. Residents will be encouraged to ask questions and voice concerns about other air quality issues affecting their community.

The District will also introduce its new Community Air Risk Evaluatio (CARE) program, which is intended to evaluate cumulative risk factors from toxic and diesel sources in various Bay Area communities.

The state and federal governments have established health-based air quality standards for ozone. The Air District, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments, prepares and implements plans to achieve the ozone standards.

The Ozone Strategy will include measures to reduce emissions of ozone precursors from a variety of sources, including industrial facilities, commercial processes, motor vehicles, other transportation sources, and consumer products.

We believe that by encouraging discussion and soliciting community input, we can identify shared objectives and improve our air quality strategies.
