Planning for Asthma Friendly Communities Convening in Oakland
Thursday, October 30th, 2008
The Regional Asthma Management and Prevention (RAMP) Initiative, the Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII), and Planning for Healthy Places (PHP) are hosting a Planning for Asthma Friendly Communities convening on October 30th from 9am until 2:30pm in Downtown Oakland. This no-cost convening will focus on how city, regional, and state planning can reduce the burden of asthma in communities. The convening is designed primarily for asthma coalition members, asthma advocates, clinical asthma workers, as well as advocates in the broader environmental health and justice communities. This event will showcase current on-the-ground efforts; cover the basics of land use decisions, redevelopment, and transportation planning at the local, regional, and state level; and provide participants with an opportunity to consider how planning and land use connects to their current work. To register, download the registration form by clicking on the link below and return it to Seham Fare by October 24th at seham@rampasthma.org, fax to 510-451-8606, or call 510-302-3329. Participant travel stipends are available on a first come, first serve basis for those with need.
