| Mission |
RAMP was established as a project of the Public Health Institute in 1996. It was set up to bring together diverse partners—public health, managed care, community-based organizations, environmental health and justice groups, schools—to collaborate in reducing the burden of asthma.
RAMP has been designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Center for Excellence in Eliminating Disparities in asthma within the national program of REACH-US (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health). Through this program, RAMP is working to develop and broadly disseminate a coordinated and comprehensive model of asthma management and prevention in order to eliminate asthma disparities, with an emphasis on reaching African American and Latino communities.
RAMP is also the coordinator of CAFA—a statewide network of asthma coalitions working through policy change to reduce environmental triggers of asthma for school-aged children. |
