Mission
|
| The mission of the Madera County Asthma Collaborative is to support development and sustainability for asthma education/resources that will be culturally and linguistically relevant and to ensure asthma treatment based in accordance with the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Expert Panel Report 2: Practical Guide for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma (1997) and the NAEPP Expert Panel Report Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma – Update on Selected Topics 2002 to improve the understanding, management and linked services for asthma as both a personal and public health issue for children with asthma, and their families, in Madera County. |

Objectives
|
The goals of the Madera County Asthma Collaborative include:
1. To promote/support the development and implementation of community specific asthma education programs for families of children with asthma in the community.
2. To promote/support the development and implementation of health-care clinical asthma management based on the NIH Guidelines in Madera County.
3. To promote/support the development and implementation of child-care provider education programs for families of children with asthma in the community.
4. To develop an advocacy group to study and develop strategies to improve the environment for children with asthma.
5. To strengthen the capacity of the MCAC to pursue its mission. |
