Our "book project" is the final collaborative endeavor of the 2002-05 State Office and Partners (Evaluation team, Public Media Center, PolicyLink) for the initial 3.5 years of Community Action to Fight Asthma Initiative (CAFA).
Asthma and Environmental Advocacy in California: The Role of Health Coalitions. Lessons Learned From Community Action to Fight Asthma: 2002-2005
The book will highlight the various grantees, their roles and their work to reduce or prevent the exposure of asthmatic children to environmental asthma triggers indoors (homes, schools) and outdoors. We will document the people of, projects and activities of, programs and tools created by, policy successes achieved by, and lessons learned/cross-cutting themes (in several categories) by CAFA grantees.
The project is being completed during 2005 with the publication released in time for the CHEST 2005 Asthma and COPD Coalitions Symposium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the 133rd Annual American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
To reserve a copy, please send an e-mail to cafa@calasthma.org with your contact information including e-mail, phone number and mailing address. There will only be a limited number of full-color printed copies available to health, environmental health and environmental justice groups outside of California after the aforementioned conferences, but the book will be available on CD (Adobe Acrobat PDF file) to such groups nationwide. |
